C. A person may not catch blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries from December 16 through March 31, inclusive. But maybe you could get in through a loophole that you're not catching any!

Two ways. They either make enough money and ration it until the season opens or they have other jobs during the closed season. Most old time watermen switched between crabs, oysters and rockfish according to the season that was open. Most modern day watermen have land jobs when their seasons are closed.
