Wow...
Lots of love on the forum anymore. And people wonder why many of us dont post, comment, or participate anymore. This used to be a fun place to get away from the bitching and arguing of everyday life. Now I will just go talk to my wife if I want that. Thanks again...

It hangs well beneath the line and catches the crabs for you so you don't have to dip. Thus the name "Auto Dipper"

Karl, I couldn't agree more. I hardly ever post reports, and when I do, I try to keep them to the supporting members section. When I joined in early 06, it was a much more fun place. Now, you've got newb's with 1 post wanting to know exact locations without providing any support to the site or useful info, jumping down the throat of lifers, bashing people they've never met nor know nothing about etc, etc. The Wye parties and Xmas parties back then were great and I met a lot of members and all had a good time. Fortunately, those that want that to continue that still keep in touch and get together, but it is no longer world wide knowledge. I guess you can chalk it up to a changing of the gaurd, but I'll hang with the inmates.

Sad but true... the more you say on boards like this, the uglier it gets. The guys that say the most, get in the most trouble, and have the most things misunderstood. People get tired of all the abuse, so they shut up. And they sure as [Sam Hill] don't post crab reports anymore, because they don't want 500 people showing up where they crab the next weekend! I have no problem with that. The best thing for the crabs would be for the internet to shut down!

Internet forums in general remind me of a neighborhood bar. Most everybody gets along, and occasionally a new kid on the block shows up, shoots his mouth off and gets an attitude adjustment.
Welcome to life.

This was a sad, sad thread in my opinion. Should have been locked a long time ago before it got so ugly.

It was kinda crazy to see good ole Scott even post anything at all on here... never see him 'round out here in these parts or anywhere on the site for that matter... ahhhh, the good ole days... glad I met some of the old "network" back then as that little nucleus still sticks together... I agree with Seaweed and Seanile but if you've been here a while you'ld already know that...whatever... carry on...

I hope this series of posts gets locked but more so I hope Rivercrab and Flounderpounder chill out. They can lock the crabbing reports but for God's sake don't lock the Jokes and Humor at this point. The one item on there could make the Guiness book of World Records.

We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. If we lock 'em up too soon, we're accused of being one-sided. We received only one "report to moderator" on this thread (at least prior to 1:00 PM - I can't receive personal email at work, and that's how I receive the RTMs)
Anyhoo, no mod saw fit to lock it. Maybe because only one member reported it.

Yep I agree Bruce. Look guys, If ya don't like something push the RTM and tell us why. All of us, including Steve, get the RTM's. Adding fuel to the fire doesn't help us at all.

Look guys, If ya don't like something push the RTM and tell us why.
Keywords here are "tell us why"
We get RTMs that have little or no explanation as to what the problem is with a given post. Granted, some are obvious, but if you can tell us in 25 words or less what's wrong with the post, it helps.

Sometimes I get a Bmail with a complaint about a post. Allot of times it is a obvious problem and we can take action. That’s cool but sometimes it is just something that the person doesn’t like about a post. With those we have to wait to see how the general population reacts to the topic. There are times when a person takes offence for something that they have done themselves in the past. It is allot easier for us if you push the RTM and tell us why. That way we can all make a decision on what needs to go and what doesn’t. I am just learning but one thing that has impressed me is the Mod’s discuss allot of these things behind the scenes before any action is/was taken.

I HAVE ONE THING TO SAY I CRABBED AROUND A LOT OF COMMS AROUND THE CHESTER AND IF YOU DO YOUR PART AND STAY FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THEIR LINES THEY ARE VERY NICE AND WILL EVEN HELP YOU OUT. THESE PART TIME WEEKEND WONDERS AND HARBOR CRABBERS THAT SOME HOW GOT A COMM LICENCE YOU GUYS ARE WALKING TALKING PROOF THAT THERE ARE MORE HORSES BEHINDS THAN HORSES. RESPONSABLE BUSINESS PEOPLE WOULD NOT EVEN THINK OF SELLING CRABS OUT OF THAT AREA YOU SHOULD INFORM YOUR BUYERS WHERE YOU ARE CATCHING YOUR CRABS I THINK MAYBE YOUR SALES MAY COME TO A HALT. AS FAR AS THREATS ON THIS SITE TO OTHERS I THOUGHT YOU HAD TO BE AT LEAST 16 TO OPERATE A BOAT HOW ABOUT ACTING IT.
Hows this pal..I crab full time for a living..Not a weekend wanna be..There are 25 full time commercial crabbers on the Patapsco every day..I know them all personally..If I went down a list of at least 30 different restuarants and carryouts along with wholesale places within Baltimore and Maryland who purchase Harbor crabs and sell them you would loose your mind..I know for a fact Harbor crabs have made it to PA NJ DE and WV because I sell them to those locations and my buyers know where they come from.So the next crab you eat might be one that I caught..And I catch alot of crabs buddy..Those $75 ,$99 ,$115 a dozen crabs most likely came from the Harbor.. Because the harbor has the biggest crabs..All year long..Not just in the Spring and Fall like the Wye..ALL YEAR LONG..And yes I crab the Wye also so I do know what comes from there.. And for you no threat was made but keep pushing pal and promises will be made

Banning out of state crabbers does not seem like an economical solution to a problem, charging more might be helpful, and then there is that Federal money dumped into the Bay ( All US Taxpayer money ). Don't think the Feds can't do a little mind twisting there when they decide foul and will not fork over funding for this or that because the ole tax payer is being cheated out of something he indirectly paid for and can not reasonably enjoy.
I really think the whole ball of wax is bigger and more confusing then anyone can really imagine, but I am willing to make a stab at saying this - what ever happens - what ever is decided - neither end of the spectrum will be totally happy and will again try in the future to satisfy themselves and again fail, because they think in only one dimension - what will it take to satisfy ME..............! Not Fair, not right just ME..........!
