Hey everyone got out to the Narrows for the first time today crabbing.Started at about 5:30 A.M. till about 12 this afternoon.Wasn't a knock 'em dead day but from what I have heard it isn't bad for the area.My buddy and i brought home 34 Jimmies for us and the family.Didn't have a single female get into our traps all day.The ones we caught were almost all 6-7.5 with the biggest topping out at about 8.I know one thing it was sure the thing I needed to get me started.I was beginning to think there was no cure for this cabin fever.Well good luck to all that are heading out here in the next couples days.

HockeyNut 17: Going from East to West on the Bay Bridge, the first land mass you hit is the Kent Narrows. Lots of great places to drop the ole crab lines.

Pennsylcrabber: Cool! Nice job on the recent slam of what was probably a bushel eh? I was out to Crab Alley Monday and althought they were not jumping in my boat I caught a nice two dozen in about three hours and all were fat and probably 6 - 61/2". Had two drop and they were "big boys" because I could tell from the way they were struggling to hold the bait. Probably close to the 8" variety. I tried some new spots and found one that was just off the edge of where the heavy seaweed ends. Little tough too navigate with my thruster but it was clear they were up in the grass for a reason. I will probably head back to Crab Alley again, unless the Wye starts to pick up soon. Quantity never excites me when I am out there ( well perhaps a little ) but searching for the big guys gives me goose bumps! Take care and be safe out there. R/Howard

Yeah, Howard, size does matter. I, too, will go for quality over quantity. Now that we both agree on that, how'd you like to tie into a couple dozen jimmies the size of the one Schnaitmans has hanging on the wall behind their boat rental counter?? If'n you've never seen this wall mounted crab, then you are in for one heck of a case of goose pimples!!!! Crabpop

Howard, actually we had 58 crabs in the bushel and 8 in a seperate basket. If we had a couple more runs like the 1st 2 of the day we would have limited out on our 2 licenses.10 on each run and then a slow drop off from that point.was gonna run back down today but had to have motor looked at and wanted to do some modifications on my floats. Topless traps with chicken necks for bait most coming from 4-5 feet of water.......its hit and miss though seems like you can hammer them and that quick it drops off...

Was out again today........It was really slow going but after many runs and trap pulling we were able to squeeze out 53 nice keepers....had about 6-12 throw backs in the 4 inch range which was nice to see there are gonna be more to catch another day.....talked to a couple other boats and they were all having the same luck......nice crabs but what they had were only be caught sporadically.......... How many hours were you out on the water? 50+ crabs sounds pretty good to me. I was out monday and only got 20 in seven hours.
Do you wait between runs to check your traps? Did you move around to find the crabs?

Thinking about giving the narrows a try Sunday, was wondering if they allow overnight parking at the ramp under the Rt 50 bridge. Anyone know if it's ok or a place that's close by? Report to follow!
