at least he cares.  even if his ideas aren't very sensible at least he's acting/advocating some sort of change.  watermen farmers and neighborhood nelly are all to blame but who has made an earnest effort to protect billy blue crab? his crab abstinence is more than i've done. i dont know this guy or think he is that smart but in the words of Gob Bluth - COME ON
Huh Huh You must be his editor at the paper... laugh laugh Just kiddn.  Boycotting crabs isn't the answer anymore than commercial crabbing is the reason why the population has dwindled over the years.  Chemical Farming, runoff, residential fertilization, and manure processing plants are the major contributors to the poor quality of our Bay, thus resulting in lower quantities of all aquatic wildlife.  For instance, I'm trying to do my part by using a non-toxic fertilizer, and an EPA approved nutrient enhanced compound for my Lawn and Landscaping customers bi-yearly doses.  Its a small contribution but we gotta start somewhere.  If we all do little things we can make a change.  Even if its a small change.

I don't use any fertilizer on my lawns and only sparingly in the field rows where I plant my vegetables. I do mulch in leaves and spread lime to control acidity. Except for a small flower garden I don't water either. I don't need to keep up with any Jones because my grandparents were Jones!

Beware people, Dan Rodricks are everywhere   Shocked

The same thing is being proposed in the fishing industry. They did it with red drum, and now they're after red snapper fishing. If they are not opposed one day crab nets and fishing rods will only be keepsakes from the past  Roll Eyes

Crabbers and fishermen should unite so we can have a strong voice in government like the NRA. Crabbing and fishing are in danger, but nobody is gonna mess with the NRA.  Think about it  Wink

It's a dead link to a story that ran in January.
