If anyone knows of a good place to eat crab in or near Jacksonville Beach, please let me know. If that fails, how about a good place to buy some fat, juicy males already cooked to eat at home? If that fails, how about a good place to buy some live males and a recipe to cook at home. We'll be visiting Jacksonville for a family reunion and I want to sneak away with just the kids and me for a good crab dinner. Thanks in advance.  Grin

Most of the places around here are hot to go Garlic Crab houses and don't have a sit down area.  There is the Crab Cake Factory on the corner of Penman Rd. and Beach Blvd. in Jax Beach but I have never been there and I know they don't sell whole blue crabs.  There is also Safe Harbor in Mayport that is a fresh seafood market and restaurant on the river,  excellent food but again no live or cooked crabs.  I crab commercially here and will be going Friday so if you want to cook some on your own I will be glad to sell you some right off the boat.  E-Mail me If I can help you out.

What a great response from both of you. It just goes to show you that you can find anything you want on the Internet. For future reference, I'm actually going to go back to a place I went to in Jacksonville/Mandarin on Julington Creek Rd. Not oceanside, but good nonetheless.

For sure, when I have more time and a bigger pot, I'm going to make my own. I have family there and we will remember you!

Thanks.  Smiley

My family and I are new to the Jacksonville area, and would love to find out where "Mayport Crabber" is... I love the idea of "buying off the boat", and am hoping that I might be able to get some advice on where I can just do a little hand-crabbing around here.

Thanks!

How do I get your e-mail address, Mayport?  The forum won't let me view your profile...

Thanks!

Mayport Crabber, I live just south of Gainesville, Florida and come to Jacksonville a couple times each month to go to NAS Jacksonville for shopping. We would like to buy some crabs when you have them. Please email me with any information you can on when, where and how much. Thanks Hugh (copgib)

I'm trying to plan a trip down, but it won't be for another month maybe.  I want to hit Jax pier with my brother before winter.
