Just checking to see if anyone around Kingston/Port Ewen have gone out yet for crabs or if anyone seen any around the area. I'm hoping the last week or so of hot weather has brought the crabs up our way.

Not sure of the towns name but the park is the harriman-bear mountain state park. We go off of the old day liner dock. Smiley

There were two guys crabbing off that tressel last time we were there. Couldn't tell how they were doing but it does look like a great spot.

Thanks for the report. The western CT coast has nothing but smalls right now....to 6.5 inches.
Hopefully the bigger ones will follow!

The Tressel is a good spot only about 4' deep. Easy to crab from. You should try it. Crabbed there last year. Going again soon this year. When the train goes by it sometimes blows it's whistle. Be aware. It scares the s*** out of some. Good Luck. MAKO.

Thanks for the report! What was the size on the crabs?
Here in Norwalk CT I am only seeing crabs to 6.5 inches and mostly 6 inch.
Small this year but at least they are here and in abundance!

Jack the water here was 75F but has dropped with the cool nights,
Yesterday it was 70.4F.

yes i was looking for you, but met people from France, Italy, and somewhere else from south America, also the dozens of others  from NYC. that came by took pictures of the crabs we caught and spent my 15 minutes soaking traps answering questions. I'm sure you know. It is a great place, the town really tapped into their Hudson river resource. Anyway Saturday 5 traps all fresh alantic salmon (free from friends at fish market) 18 keepers 12 throwbacks all females in 3 hrs. sunday 6 traps chicken mostly, 5 hrs  17 keepers stopped counting female throwbacks at 15. 1 hr before low tide seemed to be best, a couple of jimmies 7"s plus. hoping to get back down there but will have to  wait. hoping for another late season like 3 years ago.I'm glad them old timers who were enjoyable to be crabbing with told you i was looking  for you. thanks for posting

I was down in Tarrytown last Thursday. Got a dozen keepers, 51/2 to 61/2 in two and 1/2 hrs.  Used chicken. I ate crabs from RI last month but I'll tell you the good old Hudson crabs are sweeter and fuller. Hopefully Sept. and Oct. will be good months for us. Good luck.
