From my experience, if you do catch some blue crabs off the pier they will most likely be females. In fact, I don't even know if I ever caught a male blue crab off the pier. You want to find a location that is located on the bay-side such as love creek bridge mentioned earlier.

There is a fee to park. I think it is $6.
Chicken or bunker work fine.

I've never crabbed there, but judging from the crowds I see camped out there when I drive down Route 24 on the way to my place down there, there must be crabs there. It's always crowded.

well....i just got back from a week stay in Dewey. I crabbed off the love creek bridge 4 days of my trip, and caught a [shiz] load of small (very small) crabs every day but not much that you could keep. In the the 4 days that i crabbed i got a total of 15 keepers and prob around 100 to 150 baby crabs.... def not worth the time spent out there. Everyday i got there around 5am and crabbed all day till 6-7pm. There are alot of crab there but not the right size .... anyone think that this may improve around late august or sept?

Sorry to hear this. I think it would improve, because people wouldn't always be there if there were no crabs to catch.
