NJ game wardens (feel free to move if not in the right spot)

This might not be in the right spot. But I agree with everyone on the limit being uped to 5 inches. I also think that the game wardens need to get there butts in gear on checking people and responding to calls about people keeping illegal crabs. I went crabbing on sunday and about a hour after i showed up a explorer showed up and 12-15 people got out of it well i noticed everytime "they" pulled a pot they would keep what ever was in it so I drove up the road to the marina and got the number to call to report it. Well i called told them exactly where i was and they said they would be right out well 30-40 mins they never showed up i called again and they said that they had someone in route. Needless to say another hour passed no one showed up and they left. that was all around 2pm and i stayed to 7pm crabbing the whole time i was there a warden never stopped by.

typical! keep that number on your celly... I have had it on mine for a couple of years, now... luckily I have not had to use it , but it is always good to have just in case you get a bunch of freakin' numbskulls that just take everything to feel as if they did a day of crabbing, and need the evidence to prove it. BUMS!

Amazing! "12-15 people" in an Explorer?
Hopefully, you also gave the plate number, so something is on file. If they did it once, we know it'll happen again. You did the right thing, even if it wasn't acted on.

In a perfect world everyone would get caught but not in this one. Those guys will slip up or get caught doing something down the line. Glad you tried though, although Game Wardens are spread thin here in NJ you might have caught them at a good time with someone close. As it is, this wasn't the time, but like as stated earlier, keep that number handy, may need to use it again sometime soon.

I've run into similiar situations when I go freshwater fishing. 99% of the time, the culprits are "illegal immigrants". I ran into a Game Warden one day, and he gave me his cell number so I can report this kind of activity directly to him. He also told me the main problem is that Wardens are spread too thin. They have to patrol enormous areas, and they have no back-up. They need more help, but the money isn't in the budget to hire more help. Or at least thats what the Governor wants us to believe.

I believe there's only 5 or 6 wardens in NJ. You can also call the marine division of state police too. Have worked with both and have issued many tickets to such scenario's. Today the marine police showed up at maple pond dividing creek cumberland county by air boat, these type of places are hard to reach, each day new spots appear. The USCG can issue but seldom visit back water places as such, our resources can be better spent on the Delaware at large.
