As a REC you can not keep females even if they are peelers.  The only females that may be kept must be soft.  Anything else other then soft is POACHING!!!!!!  Smiley

That's what I thought.
And peeler = already molted NOT red sign correct?

Every time I have caught doublers the female didn't "feel"

Unless she is soft, she is illegal.  A peeler is pre-molt (green/white/pink/red sign).  Hope this helps.

a few years back before recs were banned from keeping females....
I drilled holes in the bottom of a few 5gal buckets. That way you
stack them - you can have the air stone on the bottom with one
and 2 more on top...  Wink  my first year was my best year.. lol 19

Ah ok So female peelers are Illegal for Recs.

I usually don't check my crabs for Pre molt signs.

I have a tanks I might try to make as a shedder.

I was looking at all of my catch today and I don't think I I saw any peelers or signed males.

I checked the pictures but I don;t think I know exactly what I am looking for.

I did catch 2 females that had what I thought purple bottoms.

I caught about 2 dozen big females and about 3 dz female throwbacks.  I did not keep any of course.

I look at the females as "latent effort"  laugh laugh for more crabs to come.

Ya need hands on help with signing... and don't wear certain prescription sunglasses until ya got the signs down pat.  Wink Rank peelers are easy but the other signs can be quite suttle.....

Jack is right about the polarized sunglasses.  I've been culling large amounts of peelers for many years, and still can't see the signs with sunglasses on
