Hey guys, great forum here.

We will be coming down to Rehonoth the first week in August.

I planned on bying some traps to do some crabbing from Love Creek, but all the info I am getting from the locals and the internet are negative for this time of year.

Should I be looking elsewhere?

I got some info for Captain Gerry Hammon:

Option 1:

18 ft boat, fitting 3 people (plus the captain), 7am to 1pm, 30 traps plus a 600 ft trap line, all traps and bait are included. Cost = $225.00

21 ft boat, fitting 5 people (plus the captain), 7am to 1pm, 30 traps, all traps and bait included. Cost = $300.00

Both charters go up the Indian River which according to him is about 10 miles from Rehoboth. He said typically they will get 5” to 6.5” crabs and usually half to three-quarters of a bushel per trip. Timing is somewhat flexible.

I am in it more for the fun and relaxation.

I only get away 1 week a year.

I planned to try some surf fishing as well.

Any tips, info, etc. appreciated:)

Go with the 18' , 3 people, 30 traps, and 600' line for $225. You'll have a great time running the line. JMO

Guys,

Thanks for the posts.

What time should we be looking at going out?

The captain says he is flexible......................

How choppy is it in the Indian River. I get motion sickness once in awhile. Should I take some Dramamine?

I only point at birds, not crabs

Still pretty new to this crabbing game but, I don't know why a charter would pick such a specific time zone so far out. I would think going out around the tide changes would be better. I know that may be easier said than done. But if he wanted best results and repeat business.......... Just thinking out loud here. Not trying to start a fight.
