Heading for Nags Head next week

We're heading down to Nags Head next week, by way of Buffalo, NY.  Because of the extra few miles I will be driving I will be leaving the boat at home. I have a few questions about ways to occupy my time while the wife is on the beach (I'll get funny looks from the swimmers will I cast a three ounce sinker and a couple hooks out into the surf) We go down with the extended family an it's nice to get away and explore.

#1 I saw a pier jutting out into the ocean is it worth fishing?

#2 Any good places to hand line? I figure maybe catch a couple doz.

#3 Best place to buy a bushel, live? Steamed? (Not sure I will have room for steamer in truck)

#4 Gene, do you still take "green" help?

#5 Anything else I/we must do?

The pier fishing is good (at times)..Colington Road (at the 2nd Bridge) is a place where lots of people hand line.. It's about 3.5 miles on Colington Rd.And yes I still take people out on the boat..Just give me a call when you get down here..252 202 6469

You do know there are quicker ways to get to nags head than go through Buffalo. NOBODY GOES TO BUFFALO ! !  Swing by Budweys and pick me up some sausage please. I'll meet you along the highway when you pass through Richmond.

The six hour drive north will just be a warm-up for the twelve hour drive south. If you're serious Crabby Crabber give me a number I can reach you, I know your pain, I pick-up a pack of Pollock Johnnies anytime I pass Caton Ave on 95 in Baltimore.  My youngest son is participating in the New Era Baseball Tournament Friday, Saturday and hopefully Sunday. It will be just him and I in buffalo, my wife and middle son will be heading for the beach, so I plan on exploring Buffalo as well. I toughest issue will be the drop off, at this time I'm not sure when I will be leaving Buffalo, I will know more Saturday afternoon and I'll give you a call.  If the sausage is that good I'll be picking up a bunch for myself anyway.

Gene I just saw a picture of you on your "boat" in the member's picture section from back in June. Would this be a BYOB trip. (bring your own bucket)

genecrabman. A question if I may. What color floats are the most visible in the water? Was told that black was and I can't believe. Thanks. BTW: I don't even rec crab. This is for float rigs off piers and around 250/300 yards out. Anybody else fell free to comment. Thanks again. wdbrand.

I use Flex-A- Bar antifouling  Orange Paint.. It keeps it's color pretty well.and won't get dirty..But Day-Glow Red or Orange is a very easy color to see, but it fades out in just a few weeks..
