should be able to get them through a pack house...my guy can get them for a $1 a pc....not sure how many...I just get a couple..

Commercial crabber in Deale here.. But we're having a hard time with peelers getting stuck/hung up on thier hardshell and dying.. any suggestions?  If i can figure the problem out i'd be happy to work something out with you.

I'm having the same problem..first couple came out great now all the others are hanging up...shell coming off but then face wont come apart from the shell..I did a water change and it still was the same..plenty of aeration in water.. Embarassed Huh Huh

Once you have peelers in bad water even changing it will only help a few come out.I end up losing most of mine that are in the vats if I let it go to far.

i only have a small 6-7 gal. set up...how often should I change the water?? first 2-3 came out perfect....downhill from there.I had 15 in at 1x....down to 2 now.all shed part way....none died before shedding..

just did a water change last night...moved last 2 .....to a 5 gal bucket...this morning same problem....1 has shed halfway...face is stuck again...I'll try again next year...with biowheel filter.Wink

I have a open system with plenty of water circulation and still lose a few to hang ups.  I know, some of them are killed by the other crabs. Others are just stuck.  Can't even pull them out without damage.  Nothing here goes to waste tho.  The stills go right on a fishing rod.  Smiley I'll ask around the shedding houses about this when I am in Saxis Friday.  Maybe one of the oldtimers gots a theory..

PS: Shut up Larry...  Grin  Yes there is a guy there older than me....  laugh

We call those "nuggets" once you clean out the guts,has a whole different flavor than a whole soft crab.

I had the same problem with a small setup I had.... first few all the way out..
then it was like 50/50 from then on...

Hey Jack.. We launched out of Sasix a few years ago fishing.... I did notice the
monster softcrab setup they had.... Very impressive
