Wood Boat Crabbing

Ignore
« on: August 18, 2009, 04:12:55 PM »

Went down to Chincoteque Va to Crab fish and clam. The crabbing was better than past years using 4 pot the 2 of us wre getting about 3/4 bu for a 12 hr soak. Lots of Sponge Crabs and females we just kept males over 5.5" and were keeping about 12 to 15 per pot. The Marine police who checked us were kind of surprizes to see us throwing back legal crabs and I might add very very friendly and did not as to see all the lic. and reg. ect . that is pretty standard in MD. The fishing was also very good getting about 25 flounder per day with 2 to 3 meeting the 19" keeper size. The croaker fishing was also good. Getting a few fresh clams each day was a bonus. Here is a pict. of a unculled pot we pulled Fred

You caught clams in a crab pot! Wow!  Shocked   Wink Grin

If ya switch out those culling rings for the 2 3/8" ones you will get rid of all the junk crabs in the pots.  Wink  Looks like you had a great time in Chinco.  It's a great place for a family style vacation.  Thanks for the pic's..

Hey Jack good idea switching to the 2 3/8 cull ring but then all the small clams would get away  Grin FRED
