Success! On the recommendation of another member here, I tried the bridge on rt 42. Started with chicken necks but switched to bunker with much better results. Locals gave me the tip. Caught about 14 keepers and threw back about 15 just under 5"/ They were just missing the mark. Caught them at a very weird time between 2-5pm. The guy next to me killed them and walked with a cooler full. He said he got there around 10:00am and stayed until 3:00. Will try somewhere different tomorrow. Stay tuned for the report.

Going same place tomorrow early morning and using drop pots with bunker. I also have a single circular drop pot that I will use chiken necks in. If weather holds I will move to Bowers beach to try fishing.

Bellringer: Yes, that is what I meant. Today was a bummer! Tongue Caught two keepers early and then a couple of throwbacks. Caught two arm-length catfish on left over bunker. Freaking huge turtle ate the [curd] out of my chicken necks in circular trap. Lost another trap as turtle managed to get on top as I lifted it. String caught the edge of water run off and snapped. I'm talking really big turtles! Shocked Not giving up on this gem though, just need weather to settle.

thats the only bad thing about the rivers! them big turtles come up the channels and will mess up the gear. ive had them on my nets and traps too!! i think they love chicken more than the crabs do!! good luck on your next trip! i hope to go today or friday.

Just got back from a day on the bridge (from 9:45 til about 3).  Only used handlines and one trap, caught 15 total, all just missing the mark by about a half inch average.  Caught one real nice jimmy and a legal female but threw em back.  Bridge got crowded starting around 1:30.  Also caught a nice sized snapper.  I used fresh skinless chicken necks.  I'm heading out again tomorrow or monday morning most likely to a different spot.

I was there on the 4th in the morning from 9-12...2 people were there already with 75% of the bridge being taken by their traps, which didn't bother me as they were there first.  My brother and I caught only 2 keepers and we were lucky enough to have a gentleman drive by and give us 5 keepers as they were not enough for him, but 7 is enough for me so I gladly accepted and had a nice lunch!

Used chicken necks, open box traps and cotten ring traps
