Anyone heard the truth about this? For those interested there is a report with a picture of a supposed 11" crab on bassbarn.com. Go to the chesapeake forum and look, what a monster.

I copied the picture from bassbarn (had to go look, just couldn't help myself!) and here it is. Cute kids! Not sure I'd let my little ones handle a crab as big as that one is purported to be, be too worried they'd get pinched, and one that big could inflict some serious damage to small fingers.

Looks to me like a big crab, but 11 inches? Sounds like "man math" to me.

if the kids right hand fore finger is 3/8 wide ===== that crab is 8 inches

in order for that crab to be 11 inches - that kids finger has to be 1/4 of an inch wide, not very likely

kids finger are a known dimemsion - IMHO

he is pushing the crab out 2 feet in front of his body  laugh laugh laugh

people say I do this with fish to make them look bigger  laugh laugh laugh laugh

I know the poster who started the thread on Bassbarn - he's an upfront guy.

I've emailed him for some more details.

It's all about perspective.  One could say its wider than the kid's head, so about 9"?  Or one could say it's almost from the edge of the trees on the right background to the middle of the trees on the left- about 300 ft!   laugh

Only a good measure will tell its true size.

You're right - would have worked better if I'd read (and comprehended) what was written. My bad. Sorry. Sad
