Hello everybody ! I am new to this site. Just wanted to give a report on Crab Alley. Went out with a buddy on Thursday-6/26 and ran 30 traps. The water was a little murky near the boat launch ramp, so we had to venture out a little way. After a very slow start, we ended up with about 3/4 bushel. We were out for five hours from 7am-Noon. I can only assume after reading past reports that things are finally starting to pick up. Just FYI, we caught mostly med. and Lg. males in about 7ft. of water. Gotta run. Take care !

Are you using ring or box traps?  Would guess ring because 30 box traps would take up a lot of space Grin

Your right Thoroughbred, 30 box traps do take up alot of room. We did in fact use ring traps. I was with a buddy, and he uses ring traps. I like them, but I use the box traps because it's all I have and I spent too much money on them not to use them. I'm hoping to get back to Crab Alley within the next few days. I will have my little old Jon boat this time and will be using my box traps. I will post my results. Later !

I am looking into buying a 16' runabout that would be perfect for crabbing.  Already own 6 traps (4 ring and 2 box) and plan to buy a dozen or so for the children to play with.  We have a crab connection up here but still love just getting out on the water and catching my own:)

Keep us posted on your trips.
