Hi guys my last report for 2009....seems (as suspected) the season is coming to an end in our next of the woods.
Went out today with 3 box traps and a scoop....in 4 hours i got 3 with the traps and 4 with the scoop for a grand total of 7 keepers.....one was a softie.......anyway happy crabbing.....they probably have another month left a 100 miles south of long island ....but me ? thats it's for this year.

surprisingly even the snappers were mostly mia this outting.

It seems to be the end of the season here in R.I. too. I was out yesterday, and after 4 hours I managed to go home with 2 keepers.

I guess because you guys are so much further north of Maryland, the water is getting mighty cold.  They are still here on Kent Island.  And getting nice and muddy..not many big ones, though.

It is basically over..................I always get my share and have been pulling more blanks than full pots in the past week.  Saturday will be the end of the season for me and all the traps will come out unfortunately forever.  I just retired and just can't maintain this on my own anymore.  Been a great run of over 50 years and it is time to call it quits.

several of the great guys on the BCA, NE Section are soon to get e-mails with my honey holes noted on a map..............someone needs to continue to get their share, but I am done.  [Sam Hill] of a run for a guy who can't eat lobster or crab because of allergy to shellfish.

I will stay active on the BCA and other forums, but no more active crabbing for me..............anyone need a boat Huh

My remaining time is devoted to offshore fishing, (my true love) and the big boat.

I am truely sorry to here that.  My Wife, out of no where, got a allergy to softcrabs.  Good luck with the OS fishing.  I love it too.  We will be waiting for your post in the fishing section.  Grin   Don't give up on the crabbing yet... It's going to be a long winter.  I am tiring of crabbing but come late winter I'll be Jonesing to get back at it.

Rest of you guys up there need to stick around and help all of us get thru another winter...  Wink Grin

masspi, Real sorry to hear that!

I have been getting crabs here and they are getting bigger!
Got about a dozen this morning with one about 7.5 inches....finally!
The water temp is dropping here with 63.8 upriver and 58.4 outside the islands.
I'll bet the crabs won't be here much longer and I didn't see as many today as last time out.
