Indian River Bay

Had a tight window but got out Saturday. On the water @ 5pm and off the water by 6:15pm. Run to spot, layed 28 traps. 2 runs and out in 45 minutes with a jammed / packed bushel of mix males/females. Don't have a depth finder, but I am thinking 8 ft. They tasted sweet and delicious. To think that I called two crab shacks in Bethany and got quotes of $40+ per dozen. Majes no sense at the end of season and the run is so strong.
Get out there an enjoy.

forgot to mention. most traps had doubles... got several triples. The anomoly was an empty trap, and usually in that case the chicken had been stolen. Best trip I've had all year.

wow great catch. I wouldn't have expected such a catch in that short amount of time.. especially at that time of day. Sure beats the $40 a dozen doesn't it lol great job, hopefully i'll be getting out this comming weekend. I personally love late-season crabbing and being on the water this time of year.

Yep. I recall you both passing me. Anyhow, if you recall where I was, they were thick in that area. I wont be out again for at least another week +..... We could not find decent looking crab bait, so I bought $8 in drummette/wings and split each into 2 baits. Maybe the bigger bait helped. We left just as the high tide was beginning to come in noticeably.

OK, probally not going out again for awhile if at all the rest of the year. Broke my reverse cable that day and have to get that fixed. Just so you know i bought necks over at ricks tackle on long neck rd. about 30 cents apiece but they worked in a pinch. I often see alot of people in that spot but i don't recall if i ever tried that one or not. we also left when the tide started running really fast but it was time to go anyway. Might have to try the wing thing, sounds like there the same price and you can enjoy the leftovers.

The Giant right around the corner from Long Neck Road on Route 24 almost always has back and necks in packages for sale. The guy who sells bait and tackle out of the sheds next to the Oak Orchard Diner and the "Dragons Lair" shop usually has bags of necks as well.
