Made my third trip down the Tank this morning. I arrived at 6:00 am. The wind was blowing hard. The weather forcast was calling for 9 to 10 mph. I had my 24 star traps baited up by 7:00 am. I had to fight with the sea gulls, until it was time to drop in my traps. The wind was blowing my lines parallel to the bridge deck. I made my first pull at 7:45 am. It started off good. I had 6 jimmy keepers on the first pull. Not bad for the Tank.  Wink After the it was down hill. It was supposed to be high tide at 7:03 am, but it looked like it was low tide. The water level was way down. I guess all the wind from yesterday and this morning pushed the water up the river. The tide never moved the whole time I was there. Low tide was supposed to be at 12:57 pm. It looked like it was low tide all day. I ended up with 10 sooks, (returned) 18 jimmys (6" to 71/2"), and 8 shorts (returned). I rolled out at 1:00 pm. It was a OK day. Better then a day at work Grin

Crabbing down the Tank isn't what it use to be 10 years ago. I use to bring home,
at least a 1/2 bushel. I have taken many bushel out of that river, back in the day. I stopped crabbing 5 to 6 years back, because It was not happening there. I got the itch to crab last year and I went once, about a year ago, when I discover BLUCRAB.INFO. Seeing all the reports got me interested again. The crabbing doesn't seen to have gotten any better, but I enjoy going down to the Tank. You would think the bay would be getting better with the money they are getting from license tags and the tax donations. What are they doing with all the money? I have the bay tags on my car and I donate money on my tax returns every year. I don't how much they get per year, but it seems the bay is not getting any better.

Fishing just was not happening. I had 4 bites all day. I water was so rough. There were plenty of white caps. I made up 2 crab snares. The first test run was a BUST. I seen 1 crab but he dropped off. Fortunately they only cost me about $3.00 each in parts. I am going to try one more test run, after I make a few modifications. If they don't work the next time, they will be going to the scrap heap.

I might make one more trip this year. Good luck to all going crabbing

Hey Scott! What do you know we are both from this site and didnt even know it. I am the guy who walked down a couple times to see how you were doing.  I wish I had asked were you a part of this site by any chance. I ended up with only 10 jimmies but as you said beats a day at work. Nice meeting you.

Yeah, with that west wind blowing...high tide looks like low tide and low tide is ridiculously low!  But you got out and that's all that matters....
