planning for Sunday

I'd appreciate any suggestions for crabbing this Sunday in the Bayville area. We're leaving early from Connecticut to meet my Mom and Dad from Northern Jersey. I found info online for Downes Marina and a boat rental. My Dad loves to crab, but hasn't been able to for years......the rest of us are newbies...

Hello and welcome to the board...I'm in MD but you should be able to get loads of crabs in Bayville (used to live in NJ)...ask the boat rental place for some tips! And have lots of fun with your dad!

Thank you! Do you need a row boat for the creeks? (I'm thinking that a pontoon boat would be easier) Would you suggest earlier in the morning? Thats what we were planning. It's a far trip for us and I'm hoping to make the most of it!

I would think that a pontoon boat would be a little large for most creeks......however....depending on the number of people going on the trip - that may be the best to accomodate your party.
If you do rent a pontoon - you can try anchoring up at the mouth of any creek - just ask the rental guys for some spots and they will point you in the right direction!!
Good luck and have fun out there!!
