If the same trap caught crabs on a few runs why not throw in a big one and see if you can pull a few at a time  Huh

I have five.   I deploy them where I find hot spots on my string of traps.    I don't find them hard to pull unless they are full of seaweed.  Wink

exactly..... but later season seem to work bettter as far as multiple crabs in them.... I bait all 6 spirngs with small pieces of neck... break the necks into 2-3 pieces
they seem to work better with little pieces in al 6 springs than 6 whole necks .. almost think it is too much bait and seems to spook the crabs maybe....

I thought they were talking about the 15"x20" traps that Captain Bruce is making, that picture is showing the 12"x12". The big ones are called Big Guns I think.

Ive thought about picking up a few of them  but still debating.  For the price of 3  of the big guns  I can get a whole case of foxy mates.  I guess the best thing to do would be buy a few and see how they do

Gentlemen,
Let me add my 2 cents in here....
The quality of my traps are superior to Foxy mates in both materials used and craftsmanship.
I have been making toplessless traps 5 years before foxy started making them.
Foxy Mate traps are made in China by the Chinese  with  Chinese quality materials, while my traps are made in Northeast Maryland, with marine grade crab pot materials made in the USA,and hand made by Captain Bruce.
The volume discount price for my standard traps are as low as $7.50 each for the Unrigged galvanized.

Now as for The Big Foot and the Big Gun Traps...These traps are called "specialty traps".
A trap that has a time and place to be used in special situations that will allow you to take your crabbing experience to the next level, and have some fun trying to out smart the crabs.

But both Foxy Mate and My topless traps will catch crabs...
and.... just like with everything else in life ...you get what you pay for!
The same is true when you purchase Stackable Crab traps.
So buy some traps and go out and have a good time with friends and family
Good luck crabbin!

Gentlemen,
Let me add my 2 cents in here....

Good luck crabbin!
Captain Bruce

Buddy of mine came with me, brought his license, we got 2 baskets on Monday... when I started out, all my old box traps were slow while my big guns were catching 2 at a time.  Water was so clear, I could see a chicken neck in a trap 5 feet down.  Almost no need to pull the trap all the way up.  The topless is the way to go in clear water as very little structure sits up off the bottom and the Big Gun is the best when you know of a central location where the crabs are for a time.  I did also catch 2 keeper jimmies in a box trap with one bait as well on more than one occasion that day.  So, we were on em for a while but the Big Guns almost never were skunked on a check.  Very consistent and effective.  Water temp was 50 on the surface when I started out.  Anywho, got our 2 baskets full and my buddy is sold on the big guns.  I'll get some more and he'll start out with 10 he says.  So, Bruce, you'll be hearing from Potty again soon!  And, to all, buy products from the USA!  It's a challenge anymore to find something NOT made in China!   Wink
