Don't know for sure if it's true but it came from a pretty good source. I heard that an guy caught a lobster in a crab trap in the Indian river bay recently. Has anyone ever caught one like that before? or is it even possible?

any thing is possiple . i have seen Guys in the summer catch ing lobsters around th jetties in Ocean City NJ.  |

I'd probably give up catching a bushel of Blue Crabs for a bushel of Lobster! not me! but anyway, I wouldn't be surprised at all by someone catching lobster in a crab pot...just probably not a very large lobster in order for it to get into the pot. Unless you meant a trap where the sides fall down, you can catch anything that way. To date I've had plenty of snappers, eel, catfish, a few flounder, and an old boot. So yeah, it's possible. The only thing I wouldn't be sure about are the lobsters being in the IR bay..but I don't crab down there much so besides the fishing, I'm not sure if lobsters are in there or not. |

i seem to remember a couple of years ago, a lobster that was caught in a crab pot near Rock Hall on the chesapeake. I googled it and can't find the article.

I have had the joy of eating 2 lobsters caught in commercial pots off of Leipsic 2 years ago. They were small but very good. So yes, Lobsters have been caught in the bay so why not the Inlet.

They were given to me by a Comm. Crabber out of the Smyrna area. He said it was rare but does catch them now and then. I'm working in New Hampshire this week and have been watching the boats drop traps in the river within 50' of the shore. They are getting 2$ per pound and the stores are selling at 4$.

Yeah, when I lived in NH we used to be able to get 'em for $4-5 bucks a piece. Especially culls. Why I didn't eat more when I was up there, I'll never know.  |

With working the summer with the NMF, i got to meet a boat captain in ocean city that sells lobster 4 dollars a pound, not bad for around here.
