Well...........as much as it pains me to say it......the Navesink may have packed it in for the year. Had a beautiful day on the water....with the temps hitting around 65, but.......the crabs just weren't there. I crabbed from 8:45 to 4:45 and only managed 13 crabs. Absolutely zero action on the drop lines......i mean not even a nibble in 8 hours! Traps got them all. The water is COLD......I would say it dipped to somewhere between 56 and 58 degrees. It was the kind of cold that when you stuck your hand in it...... the chill lasted for a few minutes.
I'm not ready to give up yet.........this string of warm weather is going to provide days to get out........the question is.........will the crabs be there when you do?
