Started around 7:30am and was picking gear up at 2pm.  2400ft of chicken neck snood line and 46 traps(comm). mouth of GP in 11ft of water.  Just shy of 4 bushel.  3 of the bushels were solid hard crabs but alot of them were small/medium crabs with some large ones mixed in.  I measured more crabs today then I have all year long.

The water was really clear and was around 54 degrees.  I could see down what I thought was at least 6 feet.  I would say the snood line was loosing 50% of the crabs that I was watching fall off because they were too deep to dip.  The other 50% would come right up the line or fall off and I could still dip them.  The line was not on fire by all means and I would say the traps out crabbed the line.  Actually my line is being put away after this trip and I'm just going to stick with the traps for the rest of what's left.

They are still there but not for long.. The fat lady is about to sing..

Not to nit-pick, but if you started around 7:30 AM, you were illegal today.  Sunrise was at 7:23 AM and 1/2 hour AFTER that is 7:53AM.

We dropped 30 traps in 53 degree water a little after 8:00 AM around Maxwell Point.  After three runs and one catfish and ZERO crabs, we pulled them up and headed home.  That's it for this year!

Scaleplane, not to nit pick but that is why I put in parenthesis that I was (COMMERCIAL) and therefore was not illegal on what time I started.

Good question CC55.  I don't know for sure.  I thought with the temps dippin the larger ones would not molt again and may be burying in for the winter.  Maybe your right - they are already in a basket or a steamer.

Thanks for the report medimac!  And scaleplane....you did nit pic and failed to even carefully read medimac's post or you don't know the regulations enough to point out a compliance issue. It gets old.

My bad... I didn't notice that until after I had already posted a reply.

At any rate - there doesn't seem to be any left inside Maxwell Point!  The other four boats out there weren't getting any either.

Thanks crabman.  There is three houses in my little so called neighborhood and I surprised my neighbors with a get together crab feast with my family last night.  They sure enjoyed them and the meat tasted extra sweet to me.  Maybe one more trip for me next week if the conditions cooperate, if not, i am done and will do some rockfishing.  Take care.
