Hey every one, don’t give up just yet! I was hesitant yesterday but it was so nice I figured what the [Sam Hill] might as well give it a go. went mid afternoon, wind was 10-15 kt, water temp about 59 F. I used 6 box traps with bunker, and began about 1 1/2 hours of incoming tide straight through for about two hours of outgoing tide. Crabbing was good as soon as the first pot was pulled, there were crabs in it, although they were mostly shorts.

Then I had an odd occurrence, about one hour into the outgoing low tide the big guys started hitting!

this was strange to me because I usually have that happen on the incoming tide not outgoing. Then it occurred to me that the shallower water of the outgoing tide was warmer than the cool incoming tide. They were hitting hard 2-4 in a cage at a time on outgoing tide (avg 1-2 keepers and 1-2 shorts in cage at once)! Ended up with 42 nice size crabs 5 1/2''-6'' and about the same number of shorts. Had good action for a short day. So don’t give up yet, if you have a hard time hitting try outgoing low tide, can’t hurt!
