yeah, dont forget they need air and for dampness a wet towel works wonders, as far as coolness 50 deg- 60. expect a little loss.  and a lotta smilin face's also use our search feature lotta good info |

Besides keeping them moist and cool...to keep them alive as long as possible they need good health insurance....  |

50-55 degrees and they will live for 3 days easy..Especially now that the water they come from has Cooled down..

when transporting em if there in open air (back of a pickup) keep em real wet and covered because the wind will dry the lungs out and kill em

I brought home crabs from the Wye on Friday OCT 30th and kept them in the deep sink under wet burlap. I just found an escapee living in the garage yesterday (Tuesday Nov 3). He was still alive. Cooked him last night and had my last MD caught crab of the year..The dog found the crab hiding behind the kids bikes..

i had a crab stay alive for 2 weeks in my boats bilge with a small puddle of water a couple of inches deep

Twice this summer i had a crab live in the skiff for a week by accident with no water in 90 degree summer shining on him. Not sure why we keep them damp in the fridge  |

A couple of years ago, during the hot part of the summer, I was using the loader down at the water line. When I finished I rinsed the bucket by dipping in the creek. Then I parked it. It sat under a tree for at least 2 weeks. When I went to use it again, there was a crab in the bucket. I must have scooped him up while rinsing the bucket. Only water he could have had was dew that collected in the bucket. Tough animals these Blue Crabs are....
