I Love Crabs!

« on: October 30, 2009, 10:22:36 AM »

Dad made the trip this week and it turned out to be a pretty good one.  It was a little windy but not to bad and the little electric motor pulled us around to the pots in fine fashion.  Started out the first string of 12 pots and had five crabs, but when we measured them they were all to small.  Well I have a little wooden measuring stick shaped like a U that I cut out myself.  So we throw the crabs back and Dad is like sheesh, I would have swore they were big enough.  Go down the next string of pots (about 14 in this string I think, we brought 30 but weren't able to put them all out the first time ) and we bring in 2 crabs.  Well one Dad is sure is big enough and the other maybe not so.  (We had just come back from Chincoteague Virginia where the crabs were a lot smaller, you can read my chinco post )  We measure them and Dad says this isnt right, you have anything else on the boat to measure with.  Turns out my wooden stick had been wet for almost a week and had swelled and warped, the measuring part of it was 6 inches wide !!!  Dad was jumping up and down, I told you something was wrong.  happy2 happy2 happy2 happy2  So funny !!  We had three pots with doubles and one pot that had a crab and a horseshoe crab in it.  A few females, a good many small ones and we ended up bringing home 24 nice sized crabs and two big ones about 7 inches.  Great day and we are going again this saturday.  I will try and not forget the camera this weekend.

It used to be hard to admit I was depressed.  But talking to my doctor and taking meds has helped me out a lot.  If you're depressed, talk to your doctor.  Millions of people just like me have. Wink
