Headed out on Friday about an hour into the incoming tide with 20 topless traps baited with chicken necks.

The water was extremely choppy making for tough going, but I did ok.    Stayed out about two hours, came back with 45 keepers, almost entirely males.    Plenty of toss backs.    Crabbed closer to Oak Orchard, and tried to stay to 8'-12' of water.

Saw other crabbers out there as well.    Two boats were working trotlines and another guy working traps.  The guy working traps was working out in front of Riverdale and back towards the Power Plant and wasn't doing so hot.

Steamed these bad boys up and picked them for my wife's crab soup and the stuffed Jalapeno recipe that someone posted on these forums.   This will be my last time out for the year in DE or NJ for crabbing.

Went to Punkin Chunkin on Saturday.    Talk about an out-of-control but fun scene.    Took two hours in traffic just to park.    Next year, crabbing on Thursday and early Friday morning, then taking the pull-behind camper over to parking area tailgate and steam up crabs.

I can NOT believe how big, and ridiculously expensive, it has gotten.  Last year was my first time back after a few years of not going. Just a few years back it was less then 25% of what it is now and was alot of fun to watch, now its a whole lot of college kids looking for an excuse to get drunk.  Wanted to head down this year but couldn't make it.  Camping over night looks like a blast but again, it's pricey.  If enter next year mutzy good luck to ya

If you drove "right past it" you would have been stuck in traffic for 2+ hours.    Wink

It is a party atmosphere.    The parking lot/camping area scene reminds me a bit of the scene outside a Grateful Dead concert, without the flagrantly open drug use.    Wink
