i wish i would of seen this a while ago i could of helped! im a carolina crabber. If your fishing with them from a pier your best tide time would be up! when the tides up crabs venture towards the shore, and shores of marsh's to feed on snails and oysters, so therefor you pot in with a good bait on and they'll choose your bait over the normal snail or oyster!
all though some bigger crab seem to lurk in deeper water baring nothing but there eyes waiting on an unsuspected fish, so if you cant catch crab close to shore try dropping net out further off shore! Some Places are different though you might wanna try more than one pier or spot!

If all else Fails...> i'll tell you this, there never was a sunny day that i didnt itleast catch one blue crab, stone crab,or spider crab:) i hope yall enjoyed your time and i hope i helped you out for next time.
