Hey Ya'll, my thanks to you guys for your apetite of our big boys.....helps to keep the boat fueled and bait in the baskets. Grin

QUESTION. Anyone got a good source down this way on a good anti-foulant pot dip that is oil based, non-latex, that doesn't cost a fortune.

Talked to my bro in Fl yesterday and he said that looking much better there, had his best day this year. Running good here, just having to watch the spring fronts closely to try and stay dry.

There two types of coatings that can be used on crabpots.

One is an asphalt base coating called Clippership Black Net Set (crabpot & fishnet coating) manufactured by Seaboard Asphalt Products. For more information follow this link:

Another is Flexgard manufactured by Flexabar-Aquatech Corporation. Flexgard is a water base coating and costs ~$100 for a 5 gallon bucket, it can be (must be) thinned prior to use (thinning it nearly 100% yields over 100 crabpots coated per 5-gallon bucket). For more information follow this link:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve, the flexgard doesn't last very long and isn't a good preservative for the galv traps I use. he asphalt dip seems to attract lots of grass. Was talkin with a trap builder in South Fl that was testing an oil based that was looking good as both preservative and antifoulant for grass and barnies and lasted full season without redipping. Now can't get hold of him again to find out what it was.  Grass is on the go already and will be bleaching shortly.
