collapsible crab trap

Hello I'm new to the boards and kinda new to crabbing only having ever hand line crabbed as a kid. I live near a cabelas and they have collapsible crab traps made by Promar model TR-301. I was wondering if these are good to use from a bridge or pier/dock while hand lineing. The opening seems kinda small at 5" but I have never used a crab trap like this so I don't know. Any info you experts can give me would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!
Matt

if your talking about the two on the right these are pots, and you cant use them in maryland unless ur commercial or throwing them off your peir/property. I dont know if you can use them off a public peir or dock though. A crab trap has 2 or 4 doors and the bottom cant be no bigger then 12 in.

Yeah pretty much like the one on the bottom right. I will be crabbing mostly in NJ so I think I will be legal using one of these. Does anyone have any reports on how effective these are? I want to put one or two out while I use the triangle traps or handlines. Any tips or good places anyone is willing to share would be awesome! Thanks again!
