I understand what both sides are saying and both have great points. There have been steps to help the natural population a little with fish farms. They are producing fish and other products like oysters and clams. This will help and may take over commercial fisherman's jobs in the future unfortunatly. Many people that work on the water do this job becouse they love their work and not for the money. These people work very hard for little pay some years. I hate to take something away from someone that really loves their job as long as they do it within the law. I believe that in the future that the fish will become the next domesticated animal like the cow and pig. This will take the pressure off from the commercial fisherman but take away a lot of their jobs. I believe there will be a demand for natural fish in the future but nothing like it is now. This might not happen in our life time but it might happen in the future. This is only a theory of mine and has no real bearing. I really don't know were I'm going with this but this is what I was thinking when I was reading all the post you guys were putting up. I hate that commercial fisherman are killing fish that are small and throwing them back. That makes no sence to me. It hurts not only the recurational fisherman and the enviorment it also hurts them. Those fish they kill could be the fish they catch and keep the next year or in the future. Thank you for listning to what I have to say even though it might not be what you guys are talking about. Hope you guys have a fun and safe time out on the water.
Indoe

P.S. I wrote this before I figered out that the other post was locked and I had saved it.

First I would like to say Indoe and CW those were both excellent responses in presenting your points of view. I said I have an open mind and I do. I now realize I have stereotyped you guys for a small few and a couple of bad experiences. That is unfair and I truly apoligize to all the watermen for a few thoughtless remarks. I also realize that I have grouped these trawler guys that are probably not even from this country into the commercial group after seeing pictures and reading stories about fish that they are not looking to catch and being discarded and that is unfair also. I know the majority of you guys do what you do not just to make a living but because you love being on the water. I love being on the water too and go there every chance I can get and I do envy you guys for that. I do everything I can not to abuse this privelage. I have been crabbing since I was 6 years old and would severely miss it. I hope I am not around when you can't crab or fish and have to go to a farm to get them. Unfortunately our resources are slowly slipping away with a lot of reasons to put the blame on. We all must work together to try to prevent it. Most of us want the same goals. We need to stop labeling groups or fingerpointing at each for the problems of a select few and deal with the abusers. If we can't do that we are all in trouble.

I respect all your thoughts and thank you for opening up my point of view. I admit while my intentions were good they were not being pointed in the right direction. That's all I have to say on this subject.

There is one group u can single out for all this, humans.

All though we could blame it all on that blue heron that let that "person" see it eatting fish.  Grin

CW It was not my attempt to just blame commercial fisherman.  Embarassed I know the blame can not be pointed at just one group. Like I said that I have great respect for the commercial fisherman but with little being done by the govenment to stop the polution and other factors I just see the future of the fishing industry going to fish farms. I hope that I am wrong.  Cry But the way the bay is going it dosn't look good for the future. One bad thing that might turn into a good thing might be the gas prices. With more hybrid cars that are made to produce less pollution the better the enviorment. Not that I'm happy with the gas prices but this could be a step to perserving the enviorment for our grandchilderen. A small step but you got to start somewere.
