Hey, CW, thanks for the link. I just ordered one of their 11-tooth Wide Mouth Basket Rakes in stainless steel.
Will put it to good use at Cape Henlopen this summer.
Stop on by for some great clam or conch chowder if you ever get down this way!

Right, CW.  Steve deserves a whole bunch of credit for what he's put together on the blue-crab.  He'll probably come back as a 11" point-to-point blue-crab in his next life....dropping off the trot line every time just before he gets netted. Grin

Thanks CW! This is a great site.

Crabpop,
Do you clam the Rehoboth and IR bay?  If so are the bottoms the same as at Cape Henlopen? I have not clammed that area.

Mikesr, we go to Cape Henlopen only.  Nice sandy bottom and plenty of clams and conchs.  We've thought about trying IR bay, but really no need to go there.  I would think that IR bay might be a tad muddy, but can't say for sure.

Not yet. Retirement's still a year or two off.  I'm presently in Severn, Maryland, just northwest of Annapolis.

De crabber,
I mostly clam the rehoboth bay because it is sandier.  Tried Holt's and it was muddy, as were the clams.  Have you clammed the newly opened waters in the IR river that was closed for 30+ years?  I have a place on the IR river near the power plant.

Crab pop,  Thats what I like, sand.  I may give it a shot some time.

ive been to holts landing.  i saw people clamming out in the water.  The crabs that day werent very good. in about 3-5 hours only had about 4 that were size and none were above 6 in.  is it always like that or are there better times because i think a few days before there was a lot of rain
