Hey all , just a quick question . Does someone need a ramp permit if they're parking just a vehicle (no trailer) on the road leading to the ramp ?

Um, I don't think you need a permit if you aren't using the ramp.....

Other ramps in the area, and definately in QA county, you need a sticker whether you have a boat trailer or not.  I know this is true for the KN ramp, because I know people who have just parked to meet someone else with a boat, and they got nailed.  Anyone parking at the county facility needs the sticker. Yeah, but this is the road and not launching any boats!  I parked there on Sat and didn't get a ticket.  Would have been pizzed if I did!  I didn't park in the lot and I didn't launch anything...only met Ellen  and Jo there for some fantastic trotlining!!

I'll bet you $100 you will eventually get a ticket if you park at the ramp without a sticker.  Make it $500. Wink

Seaweed, I would never dream of parking at the ramp or launching a boat out of the ramp without a permit.  I'm going to the get together on the 30th and am all "geared up" to pay my $10.00 fee because I am going to actually lauch my boat from there.  I am thinking that once you are out of the lot, you are safe.  How could they nail you with a ticket if you don't have  a boat trailer attached to your vehicle??

Janice , I know they'll give you a ticket at Kent Narrows lot . Even if it's just a car . I just thought that the Wye would be different because you're not actually in the "LOT" , but instead out on the road .

Queen Ann County you need sticker regardless of trailer.

Talbot County you only need sticker if you have a trailer...i.e. roof launched kayaks, pick-up jon boats, or just parking a car does not require a permit sticker.

I called the Talbot co. recreation and parks last year and was told that every vehicle parked at a county landing needed a pernit regardless of wether they are trailering a boat or not. Undecided  I would suggest you call yourself before you go.  410-770-8050  Cool

I would say absolutely you need a permit.  It is worth the 10 bucks, vs the 50 buck ticket.  It is a public landing and it states that you  need a permit to launch or park.  Don't take Seaweed's sucker bet.. you'll lose on that one.

Yeah c-dog , I'm only trying to get this info for someone meeting me there . I told him to just spend the 10 , so it'll be his ticket .

you do need a sticker to park in the lot ie be on ramp property. The road leading up to it is not ramp property so you are safe unless you have a trailer with you then theyll ticket you on assumption more people will pay the ticket and not go to court over it so they win.

You can park a car without a trailer out on the road or on Snaitmanns's property by the picnic tables, without a permit.

Joe Crabs got a ticket last season parking his car by the ramp.

With nearly 100 members signed up to attend this event I wouldn't plan on too many spaces being available on Schaitmann's property. I would recommend that anyone planning to attend should purchase a permit just to be safe.  Cool

I also called and it looks like Talbot county has DNR syndrome...they can't give a consistent response either!

This is my undertanding also Gary.  I have my Talbot sticker on the trailer, and the QA sticker on the truck.  Would be better and safer to have both stickers on the truck I guess.  I parked on the road last year without a sticker and was OK.  Man, this is a tough one....

As more or less stated above, seems like I remember that you are paying to park, not for using the ramp. Talbot counties way of keeping the rif-raft out of the launch areas thus leaving places to park for the boaters.

Again, I 100% disagree....

1st paragraph of page 2

The facilities, docks, piers, and lots are free to the public. You only need a "ramp permit" to use the ramp with a trailer...this is how it reads and this is also how the parks and rec representatives explain it.

You can stick it on your vehicle bumper to cover any trailer you tow...(maybe that's part of the confusion)

Per chapter 121-3, unless you're towing a boat trailer to a Talbot co landing, you're wasting your money on a ramp permit.

Then why does the Park and Rec Dept say every vehicle parked at a county facility, regardless of a trailer or not, needs a permit? Roll Eyes

And how do they know you haven't just launched your rooftop kayak without a permit?

Which it explicitly states that you do not need a permit to do so if unaccompanied by a trailer...
