And how do they know you haven't just launched your rooftop kayak without a permit?
Which it explicitly states that you do not need a permit to do so if unaccompanied by a trailer...
They don't. But that won't stop them from giving you a ticket.

Call the number... thats what the lady says.
Been there, done that...double checked with the supervisor too.
I made double sure b/c I was having my boss park his car there and didn't want to get him a ticket

I agree with you about what the rules say, but I willing to bet that at some point they're going to ticket cars parked at the facility (trailer or not) without a sticker. And the reason is that most people won't look up the rules, they'll just pay the ticket. "Oh, [dang], I knew I should have bought a sticker"
So its either $10 now, or $50 later.

All I can say is I went down to the Wye on Sunday with just my truck. I did not park in the lot but was the first truck on the street just past the no parking sign. There was no ticket when I got back. LUCKY? I don't know....... but I don't see how they can ticket a vehichle without a trailer parked on the street.

They can't. I thought we were talking about the ramp. You weren't at the ramp.

All I'm saying is if you have just a vehichle without a trailer, park on the road and you should be fine.

Actually, I was just at the ramp at 11 this morning and there were two DNR police ther. I asked and the y said as long as you're not at the ramp (parking lot) and your vehicle is entirely off the road, you do NOT need the permit.
PS-the lot was full even on wednesday midday!

Two, real live officers
They must have heard about free donuts at the ramp
(only if you have a permit sticker, of course)

One thing I found rather amusing was I asked what time the ramp is opened, cause in QA, it's 4am-10 pm, not that it's really enforced, but his reply was "It should say on that sign over there" I guess I thought he might actually know

you expected him to know a difficult answer like that?
You should have asked what time does the coffee and doughnuts show up? That could have been answered.

Must have been the same guys that checked me earlier in the year... the ones that actually pulled out the checklist of what I'm supposed to have on board

I'm planning my second and last trip for the year to the Wye and need a secure place to park the boat/trailer overnight near the Wye or Eastern side of the Bay Bridge. Any sugggestions would be appreciated. It might be from Saturday AM to Sunday AM. One Saturday my kid wants to drag me to a coaster park in VA and do the Wye on the way back. We will be traveling from NJ.
Thanks
