You know thats a good question. Never really checked ours being that we have brackish water. Occasionally the salinaty gets a little high during the drier months, but kept in check with a little well water (unfiltered). You could always ask Health and Envriomental Dept. maybe in the Marine Science part. Or just your local DNR someone there could direct you to the right info.

Hey Jeff,
I just thought of something to. If you were able to pump water from a nearby creek and use that as your primary source of water. You could pump it using a large pool pump. We use depending on how many shedders we run, 1-3 pumps rated I believe they are 1.5-2 hp range. Use a pool sand filter tank to get rid of unwanted stuff, if you use it you'll have to back wash the filter daily.

You need to get a plastic 55 gal drum and haul water from close to where you are catching your peelers at,i keep mine anywhere from 12 to 25 ppt depending on what the water is in the bay or river, just need to keep it within 5 ppt but saltier is better than fresher

some well water can be used and some can't,and some only if it sits for a couple of days, well water that has Sulfer in it will kill your crabs
