I need some help. I have some interest in possibly selling Blue Crabs in Tennessee. First of all is this a good idea and if so what things should I know about this type of business before I pursue this idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tee

i think only you can really decide if it's a good idea....

but you have to think about your distance from water, how you'll get crabs, how often you'll get crabs, will you sell them live or steamed, financially how will you do it,  how many crabs you will need per week, is there a market for crabs where you live, will this be a year round thing or just a spring/summer/fall thing....

lots of questions to be answered...

Gota  agree with the cooked crabs, less mortality rate = more saleable product.
Hate to toss al those dead ones!
Reheat them  for 5 minutes in your steamer and your good to go!
Fresh is best, we sell em for call ahead orders ( 4 to 36 hours notice) but more work is needed to make a good presentation. I:E Shocking or chilling them guys down so as to keep their legs & claws on. My Wholesaler does an excellect job of steaming crabs, they come a brilliant red/ orange with most limbs attached. This also makes stoage & shelf life easier.
Good luck, Your in the right place to find all the help you could possibly need!
Just have to sort thru it all and find whats works for you!
