We are still crabbing on Georgia's beautiful coast. The crabs are big and beautiful. Yes, we crab year round down here. Sorry, but someone has to crab all year. Cool

Ill be taking the family down from Detroit to their Grandpa's house in Douglasville. I'm looking to make the drive to the coast, Savanna or someplace near there. But, I'll make a detour to someplace else for better crabbing. Could you spare a poor dad some tips on where to go? Also, any good fishing stores close by to buy a few traps?

8mile, Douglasville is part of Metro Atlanta now. It is about a 4 hour drive to Savannah. Bass Pro shop is located in the Savannah Mall. However I would go to Tybee Island and fish and crab off of the pier. Savannah is 20 miles inland. However there is good crabbing in Savannah. Another great place is St. Simons Island Georgia and crab from the pier. All you will need is a fishing license and a non resident is $7.00 for 3 days. Do a search for Tybee Island Georgia, St. Simons Island Georgia and Jekyll Island Georgia. I am located between Tybee Island and St. Simons Island. When are you coming to Georgia? If you have any more questions just email me. Cool

Hey if you dont crab or catch any crabs always shrimp for a back-up plan. Plenty of places to get some. I always got mine from City Mkt in Brunswick. But then again I bought in bulk straight from their dock. Beautiful places to visit Jekyll Island and St. Simons I think it's well worth the drive.

8. When are you coming to Georgia?

Tonight.  Grin

I've looked at the google satellite maps for Tybee Island, and I do see a pier on the ocean side, near the south part of the island. Is this the right pier?

Yes, that is the only pier on Tybee Island. St. Simons Island and Jykell each have a public pier. Yes, you can still buy shrimp at City Market in Brunswick. I caught 54 Big and Beautiful Georgia crabs saturday in traps. Cool
