You can find the details on this site, but females and smaller crabs shed about every 28 days and larger males 50 to 60 days. Also you get stronger tides when the moon is full which helps them shed and get out of their old shell which makes for an oppertune time for them to shed. Cool

Crabbing, enjoying the water, meeting new people, making new friends, that's what it's all about.

Thanks.

So do you think overall crabbing would be better, worse , or about the same when the moon is full ?

Just my opinion but I try to stay away from the full moon in both directions. It takes a few days to get soft and a few to get hard, then after they shed they are light. But remember there is no set calender when they shed. The larger big boys are going through at least two cycles, and their cycles may not fall during a full moon. But I havn't had the best of luck during full moons. See what the other guys say.  Cool Cool Cool

The detailed information is under the topic molting on the main board.

Small crabs 10 to 20 days, legal 30 days, large 40 to 50. But it wouldn't stop me if I really wanted to go. Cool Cool Cool
