Tat,
were do you reccommend I go crab on April 1st..?  I am usually in trout foishing mode only followed by bass fishing and then rockfishing and then OBX for anything fishing....then it is usually crab time for real. 
I am afraid that crabbing on 4/1 you might need an ice pick to make holes to drop your traps...!
