Do you beleive that Hurricane Isabel from last year had anything to do with the better crabbing year this year ?

IMO yes she did, the surge brought all the NC Jimmies  up into the bay and along the coastline, and it also brought up the sweet ole ladies.

I can't speak for this year, but I was reading my logs from last year, and the Saturday after Isabel was our best day of the season.  We didnt' have a dry run on our trotline once.  It seems there were a lot of sooks but we feasted that day i can tell you.

It's a possibility, but I think the warm weather and "lack" of extensive rain we've had this year have helped out the most.  Last year (u should remember) it was always raining and usually chilly, for that time of the year.  This year is a complete reversal of fortunes, THANK GOD!!  Grin Grin Cool
