Even though the legal size, for now, is 5" here in MD, I never keep anything under 5 1/2", and even that's a stretch!! I mean, when you lay out a spread of a couple dozen crabs with most being large and up, who wants to pick those little weasels? Toss those little one's back, in August they'll be those big boys you really want!!

So if i want crabs to eat i have to keep them 5".

Ahhh, this is true. Smaller crabs are more abundant this time of year. Where are you crabbing though? I mean, what state...etc...

Yes, public piers are usually hit or miss. Looks like you found one that produces though. Yep, when you don't have the ability to move around to find them crabs, like in a boat, you ain't gonna catch as much...to say the least. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and as long as the laws don't change, you will. Good Luck!!

Sweet then the above is the tide chart.
We get there at 5 and leave around 11 or 12 so we should hit incoming tide right on the nose

You'll catch the end of the first outgoing tide, then have a slack tide (@ low tide when water isn't moving), then catch the beginning of the incoming (high) tide. Good Luck!!!

Him and my grandpa used to go crabbing by a dam, they had to walk a mile to get there and would get 2 bushels of 7 inchers in about 4 hours
