I see now, the peeler is looking for a male to double.
Do yall use these traps or do you use regular traps.
I might get both--------Thanks Jeff
In answer to that they make a special pot (peeler pot) usually galvanized wire with no cull rings for the little guys to escape. Place the Jimmy in the bait hold with a trap door to hold him in. The Jimmy either has had a peeler with him or those that are hard rusty gun-ho 5 to 6" ones will work. You can modify a regular crab pot by closing cull ring holes and changing out bait wells, that's a job and a half if you want to change out 100 or so but 5-10 is no problem, just keep in mind that there might be some kinda of regulation to using regular pot verses a pot designated for peelers as I'm not familiar with La. laws

It's pretty cool to if you are crabbing to leave a female peeler behind in the pot (when price drops on them or not a lot being caught) because you can increase the jimmies being caught by doing that, almost no bait needed

Now (at least here) I have seen where the little crabs have been on a run using razor clams for bait or no bait. Sound weird, but where you have a current (out/in flow tide) the swim into the pot, at least here it's been done in 2' to 5' of water. Good luck Jeff.
