Rank Peeler

I have a question I have 7 hard crabs in my shed tank only to condition the filter. But today I found a rank peeler, so I put some concreate blocks in my tank to separate the peeler, All my other crabs are trying to get in, so my question is do green crabs sense a crab thats ready to molt, and does a rank peeler sense other green crabs and prolongs it molt, even if the peeler cant see the other crabs.
Thanks---Jeff

Red Lines have a scent or something that they give off. It works two fold as a attractant for males to let them know they're "ready and willing" the other is fish pick up on this as well and say "good eats". Personally we try to keep female peelers away from male peelers. Plus make sure we cull out any that are not yellow to red. Reds stay in one tank where yellow to pink may be in another. I have seen a not so red hot male stay in his hard mode longer while being in the same tank with red hot girls. We use crab pot wire to separate the crabs IE; the crabs that are popping from non poppers. One reason (main) one to keep hard not ready peelers from the red hot busters is they will eat them if given the chance.

They are all males, but since I only have one tank, my plan was to divide into 3 sections and move the peeler down as they get closer to molt.
I ususally wont have green crabs in, but I wont always have red liners and rank peelers. some times a earlier stage.
So is that ok for the peeler if I keep them in a different section?
Thanks

Yes you need to keep them seperated,if the peeler was female then one of the males would cradle her until she molted and then roll her over,
and she would probably be safe until after

My peeler is male, and he is a rank peeler, I can pinch his back fin, and it displaces.
The info here says, thats a rank peeler and they are hours to molt, but he still looks the same from yesterday evening, i did have him in the icechest for 4 hours before i was able to put him in, maybe that slowed him down.
