I have never crabbed in delaware and would really like to try. I know where the power plant is but I do not know where to launch. Can anyone help me with this area? I will probably try it out in the next couple of weeks. What type of depths are you crabbing there? What type of baits are you using? Thanks for all of your time and help, I'm always lookin for somewhere new to try.

go down rt 24 make the left at gull point rd, you can launch but you need a state ramp permit on your boat. i use chicken necks depths are variable from 2ft to 12 ft most being between 5-8ft dont get caught back to far at low tide you will definately be doing some mud boggin....good luck

Do you need a boat at the power pant or is there anywhere you can go off the side of the road?

Thanks for the help Anchor, where do you get your chicken necks? I'd probably stop on the way down if it's not out of my way.

Feddog- stop at that meat store that you see of highland gardens exit of 97- blanking out on the name- white building right off highland gardens on your right hand side if you are going southbound. He carriers chicken necks. I think it's called Hanks, or something close.
Hey anchor- I really don't think there is such a thing as 12 ft of water anywhere near the power plant. If you find 6 ft of water you are in very deep depths...crabs run pretty much ANY depth near the power plant! There's just not much water at all there.
Good luck!

Thanks. I didn't think a resident needed one. I'm going to look for that ramp that was mentioned around Gull Point this weekend. Since I have to put in at some ramp, it would be much closer to head up river by truck then launch. I have a place on Long Neck Rd. and with a 3 year old son I find myself doing more family stuff instead the long days in the ocean. That will come back with time. But for now we are enjoying the bay again... I have a smaller boat that I have trailered to the Wye a few times last year and have friends that go there every weekend. Awesome.... But with IR at my front door a nice morning spent up river would be a nice breaking in for the little guy instead of the leaving at 2:00 am for the Wye. Something he's not up to (or at least I am not) yet. A few more beers after returning from IR and I can make believe that the crabs are the big, juicy, meaty crabs of the Wye..... Do you recommend to crab around the plant or head up river? I'm not a big time operation and will only be out for a few hours if we go (just a family outing) so don't worry about me taking all the crabs....
