When do the crabs show up near West Point?  Any tips for that area?

PS - I live in Richmond and am trying to find a place nearby to crab.  Have had SOME luck in years past near Jordan Point, but usually small, light crabs.

I live in Richmond too (Short Pump area). I'll be driving down to my place at Windmill Point this weekend and will be driving through West Point. If the crabs are biting at Windmill Point, they'll certainly be biting at West Point. I'll let you know how I do.

I thought West Point was further away from the Bay than Windmill Point...I would think they would be biting at Windmill way earlier than West Point.  Am I wrong?

Hi all.  I went to VCU for four years.  I'm in Annapolis now.  I am quite suprized crabs are found as far up as Westpoint and more so if they are found this early.  I would love to here any reports.  I lived up by the racetrack and used to do alot of bike riding in the westpoint area.

Distraction ... I believe the crab season runs north/south (it's all based on water temps) and not east/west. So, if I've got crabs up at Windmill Point, I would assume that you'll see 'em at West Point too.

I don't think they've come up that far into the rivers.
