Last time i was out was June 12th....51 nice jimmies, full too. Going this afternoon if the storms hold off...dropping pots for the first time this year. Going tomorrow afternoon w/ my brothers to empty the pots and crab the outgoing tide. Also, going Saturday Smiley Smiley Smiley!!

I was in NJ last weenend.  I am originally from the sandy hook area.  MOM and DAD still there.  I am fortunate enough to live in the CRAB capitol now.  Anyway, I brought 10 traps with me and walked into the Shrewsbury river on the incoming tide.  We got about 2 dozen in 3 hours.  A few were above 6" and one was atleast 7.  That's pretty good size for up there.

Went out after work yesterday evening...Didn't do great crabbing. Spent about an hour and 45 minutes. Got 15. Over half were 6" and up. Excited about dropping the pots though. Going back this afternoon w/ my two brothers. Hopefully no one will hit the pots this morning. was very active out there....surprisingly pulling a lot of smallies up. We only kept the big boys as that's the rule on the "Little Orca". I'll post again tomorrow. It was good to be out there.
Good luck to everyone.

8" crabs pt to pt in Nj, hmmm!  Shocked Mike you should snap a picture and enter it in Crabguy's contest. Nobody is going to beat that. We don't even get NJ entries. Havn;t seen a 8" crab in NJ in a long time. Though Red Bank use to be one of the places. That would be a very good sign. Cool

Went out to one of my spots in toms river this past friday, Caught 40 crabs in about 4 hours, didn't see anything above 5 1/2 inches. All were 4 3/4 -5 1/2 inches.  Was a nice day but the crabs have to pick up some. I figure 2 more weeks it should get better.

MIKE 8 inches, wow, I also haven't seen an 8 inch crab in new jersey  for a long time. I remember my dad caught one about 15 years ago that was 8 1/4 inches. Where you getting these monsters?

Went out Thursday evening. Dropped the pots. Crabbed for a while. Caught 15 nice size jimmies. Went out Friday afternoon. Didn't do well at all for the amount of time and work spent. Started w/ 8 really nice jimmies out of the pots....That's not many for the pots however. But 8 is better than none. Ended up w/ 30. Went Saturday morning.....very slow go of it. Not one keeper in the pots. Ended up w/ 1/2 bushel....long time out there though. Really slow weekend....but we feasted yesterday. Heading to a different body of water this coming weekend. We'll see.

Went out for the first time this year Friday 7/9 on the Shrewsbury - started early - had six good ones right away. Spent the rest of the day struggling to get 17 more. Even moved to Navasink for a while. Both rivers were full of seaweed. Used chicken. All the crabs were good size, there just weren't many of them. We did notice that the commercial guys don't have as many pots out as past years when they have been virtually cleaning the river out.

I have heard the waters off barnagat have been very productive this year - but then again I have heard about many of the Jersey waters picking up.
Only problem for me is that "hearing" is not getting me anywhere.   Cry  Cry

The best I've done was 18 out of the Shrewsbury River.

I am a transplant from Florida to Jersey and anytime I ask for info suddenly nobody knows anything.

Going out friday morning with my best bud and my nephew. I'll report up after the trip. Hopefully all this rain didn't have to much of an effect on the crabbing.

Well Just got back from my trip. I was running 16 traps using chicken off a pier in toms river area. Ended up with 61 keepers. All crabs are 5 - 6 inch range. Nothing colosal but a pretty good day. Cooking them up right now can't wait to suck em down  Grin
