Alot of small blue crabs with a few keepers are out now. Tributaries and inlets along Westbrook and Old Saybrook are starting to show promise. Also appears the eels are hungry for chicken too. Good Luck

Lobsters have been slow for me. 27 total caught with 13 keepers. 8 pots (lost two already) and only 1 or 2 keepers per trip. Cheaper to buy them!
When are you getting your pots in?

I caught these on 06/29/07. All males. All of the smaller ones I let go were males too. I guess the females all got divorced and moved out of the area

I got this guy too. Just a piece of chicken on a string. He swam up just as I had grabbed my net and he was only about 2 ft from the shore. My first scoop missed him, but I did a ninja moved and got him on the second scoop

That's a nice sized crab! What town in CT and what was it's point to point size? It's difficult to say by the photo.

Shellfish, he was just between 7" and 7 1/4. I ate him last night and tossed the shell in the trash. I think I will dig it out and keep it. I got him in Westbrook, but I wont say exactly where

That 7 1/4" crab is great for New England. I have only averaged one of those a year.

I saw a Blue Crab in the Norwalk basin on Sunday but a Sea Gull got to it first! It was a 5.5 inch female. I also heard of a guy who went crabbing just up the line from me. He got a lot of smalls with some keepers mixed in. They're getting closer! I will make my first local trip on the 30th. I'll let all know how I do. My brother lives in Guilford and he wants me to deliver him some Lobster. I'll try crabbing when there. They are supposed to be there already.

Two days ago I got two 4.5" male crabs in my lobster pots. Both were fresh dead though with no predatory marks on them. Low Oxygen? I don't know. Today I got another male in a pot. Six inch keeper! First crab of the year!
They have started to appear!

Just got back with about 2 dozen! They are here! Lots of doublers, lots of softies, lots of females and smalls. But the males were only 6-6.5 inches; not a single big one seen!

Just talked to my brother. He said big male crabs are all over the pilings and the two spots we have been crabbing at for years. This is going to be a good year for conn. crabbing. Hasnt been this good since five years ago when they were everywhere didnt even need bait just walk the walls by the time you got to one end you started again. Going saturday with my two sons and daughter who love to crab. Fixed the traps and nets last night. Will go all day. Will post info on Sunday.
