I'll be vacationing in Wildwood Crest, NJ in a couple weeks.

Anyone have any good spots down there? I want to feel the troops because we have a few families.

Buy or catch?

Boat or pier

Own or rent

I go to O.C. never crabbed Wildwood.

Pier 47 marina (http://www.pier47.com/main.htm) rents boat.

dividing creek/beaver dam  (http://dividingcreekboatrentals.com/index.html) is not too far (less then a half hour I think).  Not sure if things have pick up there.

See other post for Sea Isle and O.C. spots.  Lots to choose from!

I buy my crabs at a place on Rt. 9 just outside of O.C.  A friend of mine buys at a place in Sea Isle.  I'm sure there many places just as good and closer to Wildwood.

Just stay out of Avalon/Stoneharbor, to many MAIN-LINE crabs!

Catch of course. More than likely a pier.

If I need crabs I buy them in Sicklerville. Just a Commercial Fridge and a shed. There is no building. Blackhorse Pike (168) and Crosskeys Road (Co Rd 688)

They have Great Clams there too. Out of the 6 dozen we have gotten there the past few times, we have had one not open.

Any idea of the price of boat rentals at Pier 47?

I was down early this year, if memory....

~65 for the skiff
~150 for the pontoons

But better call to be sure.

I'm sure there are many other places to rent in WW.

I never rented from pier 47, so ...

Oh only a couple more days. I haev to find myself a good pier to go off of down there. I'd rather not rent a boat. Probably off of one of the bridges.

Any good spots there?

COML, look on your way in, on the north end I'm guessing, rt 147 into N. Wildwood. Either side in the marsh are creeks. On the left(north) there is an old RR bridge. Have seen people there quite a few times. Don't know how to get there though. On the right, in the creeks too. Think they just stop and park on the road. Hope this helps. Don't know of any piers there.

I caught a half bushel of keepers at the Grassy Sound Bridsge in 5 ft of water and in the grass in North Wildwood on 8/4/04. I crabed the incoming tide between 6:30PM and 10PM. I had to throw as many back under 4.5.

I ate them all last night and made 2 1/8 oz crab burgers.
