I GOT A CASE OF THE CRABS!

Ignore
« on: October 21, 2011, 08:39:30 PM »

Just caught a case of the crabs late this summer. I'm trying to find out if the topless out perform the 2 door traps I'm currently using. Most of my crabbing is from land cause i don't have a boat yet or know anyone with one to use crabbing. So I would like to maybe upgrade my traps but don't really know to much about it yet. I also take the kids and wife along as they to are as hooked as I am. My lil guy is 4yrs so I want to make sure he'll be able to handle them also. Thanx for any input

I prefer topless for a few reasons. One they do not take up much room, two I can get them made the exact way I want them and 3 the less moving parts the less can go wrong.Hope this helps.

Get the traps that are like some female partiers in NO during Mardi Gras.

Never tried a topless from the shore (land), but I'm guessing a trap with a top might have a better chance of landing right if thrown a few feet.  I do know if you throw a topless very far from a boat it usually comes in fouled up on the next run...

Now on the other hand... if you used an extension pole (say 12 feet) and dropped a topless straight down... I bet it would outperform a non topless.
